BC Health Regulators

There are over 20 regulatory colleges that are governed by the Health Professions Act and the Social Workers Act in B.C.

The mandate of a regulatory college (ie: College of Registered Nurses of BC) is to protect the public by setting and enforcing standards within their profession. The college self- regulates the profession, which is a privilege granted by the government. Each college consist of a board, including elected members as well as public members appointed by government.
