BCNU Aboriginal Leadership Circle

The BC Nurses' Union Aboriginal Leadership Circle (ALC) was created to provide a safe place for Aboriginal nurses in addressing the legacy of racism and discrimination experienced as an Aboriginal person working in healthcare. The ALC has been involved in several initiatives including encouraging Aboriginal youth to work in healthcare, increasing awareness about cultural competency and cultural sensitivity in providing care to Aboriginal people, lobbying governments to remove inequities and inequalities in health and social services, as well as enhancing the voice of Aboriginal nurses in the First Nations Health Authority.
