The following is a list of mainly BC specific resources for the LGBTQ community and for nurses providing care to LGBTQ people. The list should not be considered inclusive but is a great starting point for those seeking support and information.


ARNBC Webinar:

QMUMINTY: BC's Queer Resource Centre

  • QMUNITY is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, BC that works to improve queer and trans lives. We provide a safer space for LGBTQ/2S people and their allies to fully self-express while feeling welcome and included. Our building serves as a catalyst for community initiatives and collective strength.

Provincial Health Services Authority: Transgender Health Information Program and Trans Care BC

  • The Provincial Health Service Authority provides information about gender affirming care and supports through the Transgender Health Information Program (THiP) and also supports the delivery of equitable and accessible care, surgical planning, and peer and community support for transgender and gender-diverse people across BC through Trans Care BC

Vancouver Coastal Health: Prism Services

  • Prism is Vancouver Coastal Health’s education, information and referral service for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, Two-Spirit and queer + (LGBT2Q+) communities.

BC Children’s Hospital Transgender Resources

  • Includes a large number of t web links to information about Youth, Gender, Transgender and Transgender Health from B.C., Canada and International associations.

Trans Rights BC

  • This project aims to disseminate human rights information that is accurate, accessible, and relevant to the safety and well-being of trans and gender-diverse individuals and their supportive allies across British Columbia.

Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health Care

  • Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health Care (CPATH) is an interdisciplinary professional organization which works to support the health, wellbeing, and dignity of trans and gender diverse people

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Education in BC

  • Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Education in BC (SOGI)is a collaboration of the BC Ministry of Education, BC Teachers' Federation, UBC Faculty of Education, Out in Schools, ARC Foundation, nine school districts across BC, and local, national and international LGBTQ community organizations. We are working together to address the immediate need to support marginalized LGBTQ students by affecting rapid and progressive change in attitudes, policies and practices toward creating safer and more inclusive school environments for all students.

Vancouver Police Department Safe Place Program

  • The VPD Safe Place program offers people shelter if they are feeling unsafe — a place where they will be welcomed, they can call police, and wait until officers arrive.
  • If you are a business, school, or other institution that wants to take part in this program and help make everyone feel safe in Vancouver, join the VPD Safe Place program. By placing a decal in your window, you will be clearly identifying your premise as a safe haven for members of our LGBTQ community
